This place will always be my #1 spot. I drove from New Jersey to this location, just to eat there amazing seafood. The service was great. The location of this restaurant is in a nice cozy location. I love that you have the option to eat outside, especially during the spring and summer season.
This is the absolute best seafood (and soul food) you will find in the Lehigh Valley by a long shot. The portions are abundant and every component of the meal arrives so fresh and piping hot. Always served with a welcoming smile, like you are sitting at the owners' own kitchen table to share a meal. Their ability to time and serve meals perfectly sets a high bar for other restaurants in the area. I've dined here numerous times. My favorite is the shrimp soul food platter with the four sides; mac & cheese (the best), collards, sweet potato patties and Nene's cornbread. You get them all, no need to choose! I like to eat some of each and take the rest home for a second meal. The cornbread is like nothing I've ever tasted, because I don't really think there is anything else like it available in this area. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fried shrimp. Expertly dredged and fried, it is perfection! On the rare occasion they are out of the platters, I "settle" (lol) for the shrimp and fries. Served crispy and hot with their signature dipping sauce and the fries are sprinkled with their magical fries seasoning. I've done the takeout and was little scared of it not holding up but it was SO hot and packed up so professionally that when I got it home it was still crisp and steaming. The triple platter was a home run with my husband with a HUGE piece of fried whiting, the famous fried shrimp and their delightful chicken wings. Of course, all four sides were included. I don't get here nearly as much as would like to so I haven't had moved on to the seafood pots or the chicken & waffles sections of the menu yet. I can only imagine how fabulous their catering is. I always stop at those mouthwatering shrimp! You can't go wrong here! Worth every penny!
Ordered food for a graduation party. Fried chicken, M&C and Collard greens. The food was absolutely delicious!! Everyone raved about the M&C!! Always pleasant . We've eaten in and taken out and have never been disappointed!!
Okay. I need to know why this place is not being talked about more because this was FUEGO! Took a tip from my buddy Joey and met up with him for lunch (he's also the next big thing in country music, don't sleep on this guy!) at Family Chicken and Waffle/seafood and Soulfood in Easton, PA today. Joey grabbed the whiting soul food platter and I got the fried chicken/fried shrimp soul food platter (couldn't make up my mind and the gentleman behind the counter said get both...so I did). Okay...let me break this down just a little bit. These shrimp are a great size, they're hand dredged, seasoned very well, and most importantly...they were not overcooked. I hate when I get a shrimp that's rolled over on itself and half dried out. The texture of these were nearly perfect and the flavor was great. It didn't need the hot sauce, but you know I added a little anyway The collards have a great flavor to them. I don't like when they taste too strongly of vinegar or too strongly of pork. These had a great balance, they weren't cooked til absolute mush, and there was a lot of them. This baked Mac and cheese was excellent. Plenty of cheese, seasoned up nicely, baked to perfection with that nice crust of cheese on one side...man that was good. The cornbread was glazed over and it was sweet but also had the savory from the corn. Wasn't too dry (I find most cornbread to be dry) and it kept me wanting more. These yams were as Joey put it "like a dessert for the platter". These were sweet as sweet could be. If you don't like that, you won't like these. The yams with a little mac and a little greens all together though was like a dang symphony of tasting and triumph in my mouth though, I'll tell you that. And of course the final piece, that fried chicken. This had 2 wings and a thigh (or a small breast, I was so full I didn't even get to that part yet) and these wings were dynamite. Even better with some Franks (I don't normally put that shhhh on everything but that's what they had) but it didn't need a sauce at all. I haven't had fried chicken this good in a long long time. Didn't Suck isn't a good enough phrase for this spot. If you don't go here, your stomach should take you to court for neglect.
This is my 2nd visit. The food as usual is prepared well and the people and vibes are always - gracious. I thoroughly enjoyed all of my food today.
